Activities
Being situated on the banks of the River Ettrick, Honey Cottage Caravan Park is an angler's dream, offering good fishing for trout and salmon. Apart from river fishing, the nearby St.Mary's Loch contains pike as well as trout. Gamescleuch Trout Fishery is 3 miles from our park, offering 4 acres of water well-stocked with with brown and rainbow trout. Brown trout fishing is also available on Clearburn Loch, 3 miles east of our park.
Selkirk (Selkirkshire) - Salmon fishing preserved. Good centre for Tweed, Yarrow and and Ettrick, covering 80 m of trout fishing. Selkirk and District AA has water on Ettrick and Yarrow; restocks annually from own hatchery; size limit 10". Permits from Hon. Sec.; also from Honey Cottage Caravan Park, Ettrick Valley TD7 5HU (01750 62246); Gordon Arms; Bridge End Post Office; Rodgersons, 6 High Street. Trout average four to the pound and go up to 3lb. No spinning allowed. Rodgersons also have boat fishing permits (£15) at Lindean Reservoir, for rainbow trout, enquiries to 28 Scotts Place, Selkirk TD7 4DR (01750 20748).

Ettrick and Yarrow - Salmon
Bowhill (Selkirkshire) - The Buccleuch Estates Ltd., has 12m double
bank on rivers Ettrick and Yarrow. Salmon and Trout. Tweed Rules apply.
£20 - £40 according to season, fishing best in autumn.
Estate also has brown and rainbow trout fishing on Bowhill Upper Loch;
fly only; at £40 per boat, 2 rods, 4 fish per rod limit. Permits
for loch and salmon fishing from Estate Office, Bowhill, Selkirk TD7
5ES (01750 20753). All trout fishing by Ticket.
Walking - Cycling - Biking
We are situated amidst some of the best
Walking, Cycling and Mountain Biking terrain and scenery to be found anywhere
in the country. The Southern Upland Way* long-distance walk, lies
nearby, and the Captain's Road* walk, is on our doorstep,
providing an interesting way of seeing the area's beauty spots such as
St. Mary's Loch* and Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall*.
If you are a golfer*, there are at least 12 courses within half an hour of our park. A "Freedom of the Fairways" package gives exceptional low cost golf on a different course each day.
Wildlife
Peregrines, Osprey, Goshawk and Oyster Catchers are just some of the
birdlife you are likely to see in the area. Deer, Fox and Badger are
also likely to be seen. And if you are quiet near water, you might
just see Otters out to play.
Our countryside - beautiful and historic
Honey Cottage Caravan Park is situated in the
rolling hills of the Scottish Borders, which contains large areas
of forest to be enjoyed by all. There are many outstanding stately
homes such as Bowhill*, Floors Castle* and Traquair* in the vicinity.
The area is also world famous for its woollen mills and their high quality knitwear.
Literary giants such as Sir Walter Scott, James Hogg and John Buchan resided in the area and museums and memorabilia to them abound.
Edinburgh+ with its world famous festival, shops, theatres, history and Royal Yacht Britannia, is just an hour's drive away.
